Antibiotics

So what to do when you are forced to take antibiotics? Sometimes a flu an infection, or a tooth infection can cause us to have to take antibiotics even if we do not choose to.

I am often asked about the effects of using antibiotics. I think that if used properly for situations that do require a specific antibiotic, they are usually safe and can in most instances do their job effectively. The problem we have in America is that people have been conditioned to expect antibiotics for everything from a sniffle to a hang nail, and actually get frantic and upset if they do not leave the Doctor's office with their prized white piece of paper.

Most, if not all Doctor's will admit that they over write prescriptions for antibiotics daily, and will also in the same breath say that they do it because the patients expect it and demand it. This procedure in some cases can be harmless, but as a nation we have done and allowed so much of this to happen that the only one that has benefited from this practice is that the germs themselves have learned how to mutate into new strains of resilient bacteria and virus's that are able to hide and escape the effects of the treatment, plus the Pharmaceutical companies have done well also.

The smartest thing we could do is to say know to antibiotic's when we really do not need them. If you can make it through a cold or a mild infection without the antibiotics, you not only will save you body the side effects, but you can also build an immunity to the same bug you are fighting.

If you do however have to take antibiotics, always make sure you replace your wonderful good bacteria that ends up being destroyed with a strong probiotic acidophilus from your favorite health food store. Adding a yogurt to your diet every day during and for up to a week after the taking of antibiotics can ease the stomach upset, and help to replace that destroyed bacteria. This procedure goes for children, and both men and women equally.

Did you ever think you were turning into your Mom? This may just be the reason!!!

Every once and a while you recieve something that deserves to be passed along. My Aunt Marilyn sent this to me today so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. The scary this is that it has a good dose of guilt, reality, and it brings back memories that are very vivid. So get ready for a few flashbacks of your own.

I OWE IT TO MY MOTHER 1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE. "If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

9. My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM. "Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"

10. My mother taught me about STAMINA. "You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

11. My mother taught me about WEATHER. "This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."

12. My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY. "If I told you once, I've told you a million times Don't exaggerate!"

13. My mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE. "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out"

14. My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. "Stop acting like your father!" 15. My mother taught me about ENVY. "There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."

16 My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION. "Just wait until we get home."

17. My mother taught me about RECEIVING. "You are going to get it when you get home!"

18. My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE. "If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that way."

19. My mother taught me ESP. "Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"

20. My mother taught me HUMOR. "When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."

21. My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT. "If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."

22. My mother taught me GENETICS. "You're just like your father."

23. My mother taught me about my ROOTS. "Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"

24. My mother taught me WISDOM. "When you get to be my age, you'll understand."

We are all the same size under baggy clothes

Warm weather is starting to creep into the Las Vegas valley, and like every year before this one, I am now getting e mails from people wondering what to do to get rid of the winter twenty.

The winter twenty you ask, what is it? It is the twenty pounds that fits so nicely under a loose pair of sweats, or under that favorite baggy sweater of yours. It all tucks in nicely under baggy sweat shirts and long sleeve baggy shirts. The heavy robes and draw string pajamas also are a wonderful camouflage to shield us from prying eyes.

I think we first notice that it has creeped up upon us when on that first warm day you put on a pair of jeans and a t shirt, and not all of you fits in there as well as it did just last season. I mean this all fit nicely last fall right before winter came, how could it have shrunk in just one washing machine load and sitting on my closet shelf?
Truth is , we know the pounds are creeping up on us, but it is the middle of the winter and by the time you have to be out in shorts or at a pool or near the water, you will be back to the gym and nobody will be the wiser. The funny thing, most people think about all of this, and if you go back to the New Years Eve resolution preparation blog, I discussed this very conversation that we would be having right now in great detail.

I think most people get the wake up call when an event like a wedding or God forbid a funeral or sudden travel plans come up and you think to yourself" not yet, I have not shed my winter weight, or last summers weight for that, or even the previous years bulge". And how foolish are we to think that people have not noticed us getting bigger by the moment, I mean they are not blind. It is like the balding man and the comb over, Imean who are you really fooling.

We then realize we have three weeks to lose a substantial amount of weight. In our mind we will eat only air and water, go to the gym every day, and even do sit ups in front of the television, and we do for exactly one day. Before you know it, it is now five days before the event, and you have lost a total of one pound. You then write a plan on paper being as strict as we can, just to get off enough to get into an outfit that looks good enough to fool everyone around you. Finally the night before , you end up going shopping and say" one outfit, and then I will lose it all, but I refuse to wear this size". At this point my friends, you have just started your new wardrobe and this IS the new size you are going to be, until you grow to the next size.

I try so hard to get everyone to try a cleansing program because after following the program for ninety days, you have by this time lost a bunch of weight and you do not want to go back. You always feel so much betterm aqnd motivating yourself becomes very easy. But even though I answer literally thousands of e mails, only a few hundred people stick to it and do well. So well, that they will never return to to the old person they grew into again.

So out once again I make my offer to help. Please e- mail me and I will forward a cleansing program to you to get started, hopefully this time It will hit home. Like I say every time we discuss this, I am not only a person who has compiled this program, I have been there and done that and did everything that the average overweight person has done, and I knew all of the tricks of the trade so to say. It is a lot easier to relate when you have lived this problem. Personally I would rather listen to an ex fatty person who has struggled that a very wise person who has never lost their breath tying their shoes. Ifyou have never struggled, leave me alone, you could not possibly get it.

A little TLC for stress

A stressful day continues long after that "day" is over. When you have a stressful day full of hard work, emotional or physical overload or even just filled with things that have to be done, it seems like just when you think the day is over, it is not. Most of us carry it around for hours, days weeks or even months, and the longer we do the more wear and tear it puts on our bodies.

After the day has ended your mind can play havoc with your mood, it can make you go to bed and re- live the stress of the day. Sometimes when the stress was very bad, you can go over it in your mind night after night until it affects every part of you day and night and keeps you from getting the rest you require.

When stress seems to be a major factor in your life whether it is on a daily basis or maybe it comes in and out of your life like a hormone cycle, try a few things at bedtime that may help the body and your mind deal with the day to day stress.

Try taking supplemental Calcium and Magnesium at bedtime as it relaxes tight muscles as well as supporting the bone and skeletal system ans also make you relax and feel a little sleepy. The addition of Melatonin, Kava or Valarian at night can help to release night time stress. Sometimes we just need to be able to shut down our brains long enough to get a restfull night of sleep. It is amazing what a good night of sleep can do to help make the next day better or worst, and the difference between being able to cope or just fall apart.
A hot shower at night at night with the head of the shower aimed at the base of the neck and the top of the head can actually relax the days tensions and reduce blood pressure. A small meal at bedtime, protein preferably can help to relax you, as most protein also has added Calcium.

Stress is everywhere in every jobplace, and everywhere in out lives and believe it or not in every financial bracket, but sometimes a small amount of TLC on our side can make it more tolerable, and give you the strength to cope and deal with stress.

Gout, painful but controllable

Today's blog is a quick and to the point one. Gout. or the situation created by excess uric acid in the body is painful and difficult to deal with. It can be treated very easily though by removing just a few food groups, and by taking a few select supplements, there by alleviating much pain and discomfort.

Elimination of the following is the first step towards pain relief. Meat, organ meats, caffeine including dark colored sodas and all coffee and tea, nightshade vegetables like tomato, eggplant, even avocados and white potatoes will help.Another culprit for agitation is chocolate and alcohol, have to go, at least during a flare up.

As far a supplementation, black cherry juice concentrate, about 1 teaspoon ion 8 oz of water as much as four times daily, as well as increased water consumption. Increasing your B Complex by 50 mg daily and adding more Calcium and Magnesium and MSM will also help with the pain.

Not really a difficult condition to treat, but most surely a painful one to walk on, as its effects are mostly felt on the bottoms and tops of the feet. Good luck, as this condition is creeping up at an alarming rate, so consider yourself informed for quick and effective treatment.

Ups and downs, not only for a roller coaster

You really have to wonder why Americans are on so many prescription drugs for depression, anxiety and mood, we are the most compulsive worriers in the world. We worry about things that have happened, things that may happen, things that may never happen, and things that could have happened. What is wrong with us?

Not that long ago, you never heard of the average Joe on a mind and mood altering drug, well, not by prescription anyway! People just dealt with things, worked through them and actually did a very good job at it. When was it exactly when Doctors started saying, "Are you feeling a little down these days?", or "How is your mood, are you feeling depressed"?

I personally think that the power of suggestion has merit here, and let's face it, we all have down and out days, blue days, and those once and a while days when we just want to tune out the world. It is just out of control, and being led by the Doctors and the pharmaceutical industry. The thing is, most of these medications are not for the short term, most people end up on them for the long haul, whether or not they still need them, or whether they ever actually did.

When my best friend died ten years ago, I was very sad, and visibly shaken and depressed at the situation. When I saw my Doctor he said "are you depressed?", I looked at him and said, Daah, what do you think? He said would you like something for that. I actually looked at him and said, "do you really think that numbing me up will make these emotions go away"? I said, no thank you, I will work through them as mourning is healthy and you should go through it, not cover it up. I think when you have a loss, and you do not mourn, a few years down the road you really start to suffer because you never ALLOWED yourself the closure you deserve.

The problem is, we are a society of band -aid quick fix medicine, and if it comes on a white piece of paper, in our minds it is not only safe, but recommended. There are of course situations of true depression and chemical imbalances in our brains, and medication for these conditions is not only needed but very effective. For the most part though, most of us can work through the blues, bad jobs and emotional roller coaster relationships, financial problems and loss of a loved ones all on our own, or at least by using natural alternatives rather that running in for the prescriptioncrutch. We also are persuaded by our friends who may or may not be on these drugs as well, and they will sometimes suggest that you need them, and we listen, foolishly.

If you are going through a bad emotional time, and it is effecting your mood and your health, please consult your most knowledgeable vitamin store person. They will and should be able to show you an array of natural and safe alternatives to get you through the mud, and get you back on track.

Depression, bad days and mood swings are all part of life. There are ups and downs, sideways and even in the middle times and they all add up together and make what is called a normal life. Anyone that says their life is always a bed of perpetual roses, is substituting artifical silk flowers most of the time, because everybody has and will have ups and downs, or they are not "normal".

Out with the white

Out with the white is what I am calling the fastest way to reduce weight. Most, if not all white foods have obesity making carbohydrates, starch or sugars, the main culprits we are trying to avoid. I will soon have a complete outline of how to work this program effectively to let it work for you.

This is just a tantalizing tid bit, so remember if it is white, do not eat it, and you will be that far ahead of the crowd. I think this will finally be the easy, complete, fast and non thinking way to let you know exactly what to do to consistently lose weight, and keep it off. I also feel this will be the answer for reducing the severity and freqency of obese related illness like heart disease, diabetes, and blood pressure problems.

So stay tuned...
The above picture is a snapshot of our newest licensee in Key West Florida called VIP Nutrition. What a great job Roland the owner has done with this place. It was a video store for over 18 years, and he did the new build out himself. Kudos to Roland!! If you are ever in Key West Florida and forget your vitamins, Roland will come to the rescue and make sure you stay healthy.
