Antibiotics

So what to do when you are forced to take antibiotics? Sometimes a flu an infection, or a tooth infection can cause us to have to take antibiotics even if we do not choose to.

I am often asked about the effects of using antibiotics. I think that if used properly for situations that do require a specific antibiotic, they are usually safe and can in most instances do their job effectively. The problem we have in America is that people have been conditioned to expect antibiotics for everything from a sniffle to a hang nail, and actually get frantic and upset if they do not leave the Doctor's office with their prized white piece of paper.

Most, if not all Doctor's will admit that they over write prescriptions for antibiotics daily, and will also in the same breath say that they do it because the patients expect it and demand it. This procedure in some cases can be harmless, but as a nation we have done and allowed so much of this to happen that the only one that has benefited from this practice is that the germs themselves have learned how to mutate into new strains of resilient bacteria and virus's that are able to hide and escape the effects of the treatment, plus the Pharmaceutical companies have done well also.

The smartest thing we could do is to say know to antibiotic's when we really do not need them. If you can make it through a cold or a mild infection without the antibiotics, you not only will save you body the side effects, but you can also build an immunity to the same bug you are fighting.

If you do however have to take antibiotics, always make sure you replace your wonderful good bacteria that ends up being destroyed with a strong probiotic acidophilus from your favorite health food store. Adding a yogurt to your diet every day during and for up to a week after the taking of antibiotics can ease the stomach upset, and help to replace that destroyed bacteria. This procedure goes for children, and both men and women equally.

Did you ever think you were turning into your Mom? This may just be the reason!!!

Every once and a while you recieve something that deserves to be passed along. My Aunt Marilyn sent this to me today so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. The scary this is that it has a good dose of guilt, reality, and it brings back memories that are very vivid. So get ready for a few flashbacks of your own.

I OWE IT TO MY MOTHER 1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE. "If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

2. My mother taught me RELIGION. "You better pray that will come out of the carpet."

3. My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL. "If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"

4. My mother taught me LOGIC. " Because I said so, that's why."

5. My mother taught me MORE LOGIC. "If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."

6. My mother taught me FORESIGHT. "Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."

7. My mother taught me IRONY "Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."

8. My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS. "Shut your mouth and eat your supper."

9. My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM. "Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"

10. My mother taught me about STAMINA. "You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

11. My mother taught me about WEATHER. "This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."

12. My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY. "If I told you once, I've told you a million times Don't exaggerate!"

13. My mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE. "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out"

14. My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. "Stop acting like your father!" 15. My mother taught me about ENVY. "There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."

16 My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION. "Just wait until we get home."

17. My mother taught me about RECEIVING. "You are going to get it when you get home!"

18. My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE. "If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that way."

19. My mother taught me ESP. "Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"

20. My mother taught me HUMOR. "When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."

21. My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT. "If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."

22. My mother taught me GENETICS. "You're just like your father."

23. My mother taught me about my ROOTS. "Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"

24. My mother taught me WISDOM. "When you get to be my age, you'll understand."

25. And my favorite: My mother taught me about JUSTICE. "One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!"

Hope this gace you a good laugh...

We are all the same size under baggy clothes

Warm weather is starting to creep into the Las Vegas valley, and like every year before this one, I am now getting e mails from people wondering what to do to get rid of the winter twenty.

The winter twenty you ask, what is it? It is the twenty pounds that fits so nicely under a loose pair of sweats, or under that favorite baggy sweater of yours. It all tucks in nicely under baggy sweat shirts and long sleeve baggy shirts. The heavy robes and draw string pajamas also are a wonderful camouflage to shield us from prying eyes.

I think we first notice that it has creeped up upon us when on that first warm day you put on a pair of jeans and a t shirt, and not all of you fits in there as well as it did just last season. I mean this all fit nicely last fall right before winter came, how could it have shrunk in just one washing machine load and sitting on my closet shelf?
Truth is , we know the pounds are creeping up on us, but it is the middle of the winter and by the time you have to be out in shorts or at a pool or near the water, you will be back to the gym and nobody will be the wiser. The funny thing, most people think about all of this, and if you go back to the New Years Eve resolution preparation blog, I discussed this very conversation that we would be having right now in great detail.

I think most people get the wake up call when an event like a wedding or God forbid a funeral or sudden travel plans come up and you think to yourself" not yet, I have not shed my winter weight, or last summers weight for that, or even the previous years bulge". And how foolish are we to think that people have not noticed us getting bigger by the moment, I mean they are not blind. It is like the balding man and the comb over, Imean who are you really fooling.

We then realize we have three weeks to lose a substantial amount of weight. In our mind we will eat only air and water, go to the gym every day, and even do sit ups in front of the television, and we do for exactly one day. Before you know it, it is now five days before the event, and you have lost a total of one pound. You then write a plan on paper being as strict as we can, just to get off enough to get into an outfit that looks good enough to fool everyone around you. Finally the night before , you end up going shopping and say" one outfit, and then I will lose it all, but I refuse to wear this size". At this point my friends, you have just started your new wardrobe and this IS the new size you are going to be, until you grow to the next size.

I try so hard to get everyone to try a cleansing program because after following the program for ninety days, you have by this time lost a bunch of weight and you do not want to go back. You always feel so much betterm aqnd motivating yourself becomes very easy. But even though I answer literally thousands of e mails, only a few hundred people stick to it and do well. So well, that they will never return to to the old person they grew into again.

So out once again I make my offer to help. Please e- mail me and I will forward a cleansing program to you to get started, hopefully this time It will hit home. Like I say every time we discuss this, I am not only a person who has compiled this program, I have been there and done that and did everything that the average overweight person has done, and I knew all of the tricks of the trade so to say. It is a lot easier to relate when you have lived this problem. Personally I would rather listen to an ex fatty person who has struggled that a very wise person who has never lost their breath tying their shoes. Ifyou have never struggled, leave me alone, you could not possibly get it.

A little TLC for stress

A stressful day continues long after that "day" is over. When you have a stressful day full of hard work, emotional or physical overload or even just filled with things that have to be done, it seems like just when you think the day is over, it is not. Most of us carry it around for hours, days weeks or even months, and the longer we do the more wear and tear it puts on our bodies.

After the day has ended your mind can play havoc with your mood, it can make you go to bed and re- live the stress of the day. Sometimes when the stress was very bad, you can go over it in your mind night after night until it affects every part of you day and night and keeps you from getting the rest you require.

When stress seems to be a major factor in your life whether it is on a daily basis or maybe it comes in and out of your life like a hormone cycle, try a few things at bedtime that may help the body and your mind deal with the day to day stress.

Try taking supplemental Calcium and Magnesium at bedtime as it relaxes tight muscles as well as supporting the bone and skeletal system ans also make you relax and feel a little sleepy. The addition of Melatonin, Kava or Valarian at night can help to release night time stress. Sometimes we just need to be able to shut down our brains long enough to get a restfull night of sleep. It is amazing what a good night of sleep can do to help make the next day better or worst, and the difference between being able to cope or just fall apart.
A hot shower at night at night with the head of the shower aimed at the base of the neck and the top of the head can actually relax the days tensions and reduce blood pressure. A small meal at bedtime, protein preferably can help to relax you, as most protein also has added Calcium.

Stress is everywhere in every jobplace, and everywhere in out lives and believe it or not in every financial bracket, but sometimes a small amount of TLC on our side can make it more tolerable, and give you the strength to cope and deal with stress.

Gout, painful but controllable

Today's blog is a quick and to the point one. Gout. or the situation created by excess uric acid in the body is painful and difficult to deal with. It can be treated very easily though by removing just a few food groups, and by taking a few select supplements, there by alleviating much pain and discomfort.

Elimination of the following is the first step towards pain relief. Meat, organ meats, caffeine including dark colored sodas and all coffee and tea, nightshade vegetables like tomato, eggplant, even avocados and white potatoes will help.Another culprit for agitation is chocolate and alcohol, have to go, at least during a flare up.

As far a supplementation, black cherry juice concentrate, about 1 teaspoon ion 8 oz of water as much as four times daily, as well as increased water consumption. Increasing your B Complex by 50 mg daily and adding more Calcium and Magnesium and MSM will also help with the pain.

Not really a difficult condition to treat, but most surely a painful one to walk on, as its effects are mostly felt on the bottoms and tops of the feet. Good luck, as this condition is creeping up at an alarming rate, so consider yourself informed for quick and effective treatment.

Ups and downs, not only for a roller coaster

You really have to wonder why Americans are on so many prescription drugs for depression, anxiety and mood, we are the most compulsive worriers in the world. We worry about things that have happened, things that may happen, things that may never happen, and things that could have happened. What is wrong with us?

Not that long ago, you never heard of the average Joe on a mind and mood altering drug, well, not by prescription anyway! People just dealt with things, worked through them and actually did a very good job at it. When was it exactly when Doctors started saying, "Are you feeling a little down these days?", or "How is your mood, are you feeling depressed"?

I personally think that the power of suggestion has merit here, and let's face it, we all have down and out days, blue days, and those once and a while days when we just want to tune out the world. It is just out of control, and being led by the Doctors and the pharmaceutical industry. The thing is, most of these medications are not for the short term, most people end up on them for the long haul, whether or not they still need them, or whether they ever actually did.

When my best friend died ten years ago, I was very sad, and visibly shaken and depressed at the situation. When I saw my Doctor he said "are you depressed?", I looked at him and said, Daah, what do you think? He said would you like something for that. I actually looked at him and said, "do you really think that numbing me up will make these emotions go away"? I said, no thank you, I will work through them as mourning is healthy and you should go through it, not cover it up. I think when you have a loss, and you do not mourn, a few years down the road you really start to suffer because you never ALLOWED yourself the closure you deserve.

The problem is, we are a society of band -aid quick fix medicine, and if it comes on a white piece of paper, in our minds it is not only safe, but recommended. There are of course situations of true depression and chemical imbalances in our brains, and medication for these conditions is not only needed but very effective. For the most part though, most of us can work through the blues, bad jobs and emotional roller coaster relationships, financial problems and loss of a loved ones all on our own, or at least by using natural alternatives rather that running in for the prescriptioncrutch. We also are persuaded by our friends who may or may not be on these drugs as well, and they will sometimes suggest that you need them, and we listen, foolishly.

If you are going through a bad emotional time, and it is effecting your mood and your health, please consult your most knowledgeable vitamin store person. They will and should be able to show you an array of natural and safe alternatives to get you through the mud, and get you back on track.

Depression, bad days and mood swings are all part of life. There are ups and downs, sideways and even in the middle times and they all add up together and make what is called a normal life. Anyone that says their life is always a bed of perpetual roses, is substituting artifical silk flowers most of the time, because everybody has and will have ups and downs, or they are not "normal".

Out with the white

Out with the white is what I am calling the fastest way to reduce weight. Most, if not all white foods have obesity making carbohydrates, starch or sugars, the main culprits we are trying to avoid. I will soon have a complete outline of how to work this program effectively to let it work for you.

This is just a tantalizing tid bit, so remember if it is white, do not eat it, and you will be that far ahead of the crowd. I think this will finally be the easy, complete, fast and non thinking way to let you know exactly what to do to consistently lose weight, and keep it off. I also feel this will be the answer for reducing the severity and freqency of obese related illness like heart disease, diabetes, and blood pressure problems.

So stay tuned...
The above picture is a snapshot of our newest licensee in Key West Florida called VIP Nutrition. What a great job Roland the owner has done with this place. It was a video store for over 18 years, and he did the new build out himself. Kudos to Roland!! If you are ever in Key West Florida and forget your vitamins, Roland will come to the rescue and make sure you stay healthy.

Hmmmm???

Although we as a nation are starting to realize that our bad habits are the main reason we are as sickly as we are, we still continue to have past times that are ruining our health.

I thought that showing some statistics would make for interesting thoughts in today's blog. At this moment in America there are a minimun of twenty five million smokers, although the direct link to cancer and heart disease are well known and on every pack that is sold. Addiction is a major factor here, and I feel for the group that has decided to kick the habit. Although it must be an agreement with yourself and nobody else and timing is criticaland must be correct for you to be able to follow through.

There are over fifty eight million obese adults, and about half that in obese children, which is catching up at an alarming rate. Eight out of ten adults are overweight in America, more that any other country, although we know that this in itself is asking for major and life threatening health problems.

There has been an increase of seventy five percent of type II diabetes in America since 1990, there are a total of over twenty million diagnosed right this moment in America and many more people that have non diagnosed cases of diabetes. This category at one time was a disease that afflicted adults in their fifties and sixties, but in the last ten years has started affecting twenty and thirty year old individulas.

So we need to ask ourselves something, why do we keep doing the things and keep having bad habits that will ultimately kill us? I wish I knew the answer to this question. I am amazed because so many of the people I know that still have one or more of these situations are so in control over every other part of their life, maybe it is just the last thing to give up and readiness fo change comes in all shapes and sizes and times.
I always say our bad habits are a very personal thing. We start them because we choose to. we continue them because we choose to, and when we quit them it is becaise us and us alone choose to.

Body odor. do not just cover it up, eliminate it!!!

Ever wondered why your breath is so bad even though you brush your teeth three times per day. Have you ever gone to the gym and noticed that when you sweat ,there is a foul odor that comes through your skin and the odor is very strong even though you shower once or twice per day. The third situation would be why your stool and urine has such a strong foul smell.

Many times when people are experiencing one or more or even all of the above symptoms, their first line of attack seems to be the drug store. Going down aisle after aisle looking for a fix, and a quick fix at that. I think it is normal to want to fix a problem, but once again we need to realize that getting to the source is always our best line of defense.

It has been my conclusion that when there are odors escaping through various parts of the body, it usually means that they are not using the normal means of release and are using whatever means possible to escape the body. I find that most people with body odor problems have bad elimination and poor digestion.

Most individuals that are plagued with body odor problems need to fix their digestive problems with the addition of digestive enzymes. They also need to address their elimination problems, and possibly increase the intake of fiber or do a complete cleanse. Both can increase the elimination of odors while balancing a few problems that need to be addressed anyway. Try using Ergozymes for digestion and Odor eze for freshening the body from the inside out. The Ultimate Cleanse from Nature's Secret is about the best cleanse I have found, with the best results.

We need to realize that using deodorants, body sprays, breath mints, perfume and colognes are very helpful for the short term, but if we want to eliminate the odors permanently. we need to look for the cause and follow through. The great thing is, while addressing the odor issue, we actually can correct our overall health at the same time.

Choices

Do you think that taking supplements is something you do daily because you think you need them, or are you a supplement taker because you have been told you should? I think for most people these are the two categories that they would fit into.

I think if you go back thirty years, most people that took supplements did so because it was the "in thing" to do. More of a luxury, than a necessity, like it is today. Today we all know about supplements because we read about them in every magazine, on the Internet, it is discussed on radio and television shows, and we even discuss the newest breakthroughs with our friends and family.

I think the media has played an instrumental role in helping to spread the word on alternative nutritional therapies. Not always the best reviews, or the most complete reporting or even thorough testing, but exposure non the less. I actually think that this exposure has encouraged people to finally realize that they do have alternatives at their fingertips, and if it was not the information they were looking for just maybe it would be the nudge they needed to do some research.

So today's blog is just that friendly reminder that whatever is ailing, or bothering you, or whatever health situation comes your way, remember that you have many choices and many different directions to choose from. You are not at the exclusive mercy of traditional medicine, nor do you have to work with Doctors that are not open to questions or working within your belief system. Many times combining different types of medicine therapies might just give you the edge and little extra you need to conquer whatever life throws you way.

Warm weather brings allergy symptoms

As spring starts to show signs of returning in the Las Vegas valley, pollens are beginning to blow around and there are buds on the trees showing up more every day. Although we are all very happy to see cold weather disappear, the warmer weather does have a down side for many people in the Las Vegas valley, it is once again allergy season.

Many people at the first sign of allergy symptoms run to the drug store for a quick fix. Along with this quick fix comes light headedness, possible headaches, fatigue, sleepiness, possible medication interaction including the raising of blood pressure. I think most people are just frustrated by the symptoms and the annoyances of allergies that can include multiple symptoms. Symptoms range from runny nose, itchy eyes, post nasal drip, fatigue, dizziness, cold symptoms, trouble breathing, shortness of breath, and even loss of appetite.

Although allergies are very annoying, they are not life threatening, but at the time they seem as though they are. I think this why so many people run out for a remedy at the first sign. I think the first year of allergies, most people are actually surprised that they have them. Many people have lived in the same area for years and never were plagued with them and cannot understand how they could possibly suffer now. I think this happens for a variety of reasons. As years go by our immune systems weaken, our diets contain numerous amounts of chemicals and preservatives, the environments around us change, and even the normal vegetation that grows in our areas change without us having any control. All of these factors around us changing creep up on us and before you know it you have allergy problems, and it has no bearing on our age, allergies can affect children and adults.

In the Las Vegas area, we have a terrible allergy season, mostly due to construction and the increasing amount of people bringing in vegetation from other parts of the country.A company called Dolisos has created a product that has made a difference for over a decade for allergy sufferers. It is called Las Vegas mix and it is a homeopathic formula that is natural and had been very successful. This company makes formulas for many different areas all over the nation using each areas local plants and trees that cause the individual symptoms for that area.
This product incorporates local pollens for every area and after using them a few times a day, under the tongue in a sublingual liquid formula helps to build your resistance to the pollens that are causing the problem. The wonderful thing is you have no risk of side effects and it can be used for prolonged periods of time.

I also like adding in the Great Earth Pollen Season formula. This formula can be used anywhere in the United States, for any kind of pollen allergy problems. This product boosts your immune system and helps to support your bodies natural defenses so that you can fight allergens very effectively. Once again, this product is very safe and can be used as long as needed.

A few more tips for a smooth allergy season. Cut dairy and all mucous forming foods out of your diet to take the strain off the lungs and to prevent excess post nasal drip. Drinking plenty of water is a requirement and increasing Vitamin C, and eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Bottom line, when allergy symptoms start to hit home, remember that you do not need to run to the drug store for the synthetic fix. There are wonderful natural remedies available that will let you function and still be able to think clearly and have energy.

Back home

Hello all, and I must say right from the start, it is so good to be back home. I really enjoy traveling and seeing the country, training and meeting wonderful people, but sleeping in my own bed is the best. Of course being away from the four legged kids is hard too, so that is always a welcomed greeting for me.

As I always say when I travel, no matter where you are in the country, and know matter whom you speak to, problems are usually the same everywhere. Questions always surface about the same situations whether it is cholesterol, blood pressure, immune system, weight loss, bruising, bleeding gums, arthritis, joint problems, stress, tiredness, sleeplessness or just plain feeling lousy.

So this started me wondering that if the same problems are occurring on opposite coasts, and in numerous locations in the country, whats the problem? I must say that it com,es down to the same thing, people are overfed and malnutritioned, stressed out, eating lousy food, not getting the exercise and rest they need, and do not prioritize them selves into the "to do" list of everyday activities.

Don't you find it strange that people from different backgrounds, living in different locations, from different demographics and different ethnicity's all are asking the same questions and having the same problems? The only common denominator is that we are all Americans! Wow, not the across the board statistic that we would like to advertise.

Come and live in America, land of plenty, and way too much, land of stress, fast food, obesity and disease and the place to go to be on your choice of many pharmaceutical drugs, yet we are living longer. I know this is making and poking fun at us, but maybe this should be THE wake up call that pretty soon we will all have exactly the same ONE thing in America, no matter where you live in the states, bad health.

I am in the mindset that everyone basically knows that they are a mess and doing the wrong thing, and that we do not need a Doctor to tell us this point. But somewhere along the line, something needs to be preached, or maybe something put in the water supply that will make us all stop and say, "today's the day that I get it together and start a healthy new way of living". Well, it sounds good, and it really is great to be home.

Saturday and Sunday, we just left the Florida Keys

Finally in Tampa after two days in Key West. I could not get a strong enough signal to chat yesterday, but it was a great experience. Not only was the weather beautiful, but it really is a geographic location to see and enjoy.

We were able to spend the day with Roland, another of our new and definitely upcoming licensees. He has opened a beautiful store in Key West, and it is called VIP Nutrition. A beautiful corner store location that is well located in the city.

Roland has decided to make his store a firm Great Earth Vitamins location, as it is his main line of supplements. The store is very new and has only been open a month, it is not only doing well, but it is becoming the place to go for knowledge and selection as well as quality. I was also happy to see he has put in a smoothie bar, a big plus for this area as so many people are into health, and as the warm weather comes in, thirst will increase, and nothing better than an ice cold fresh fruit smoothie.

Roland was a gracious host and took us for a night on the town including a wonderful dinner and a show.Kathy and I are just so excited that we were able to see the whole area in person, and spend this quality time with Roland.

We just landed in Tampa, once a gain on a rubber band plane, thankfully we were able to land safely here in Tampa. I will keep you posted as we start our next round of visits here.

I hope all of you in cold and warn climates are healthy, and taking care of you great health.

Florida, day 2

Sorry I am a little late tonight, but I had a full day here in Boca. Today started back at Tunies health food store. I was able to do some great training with an incredible staff, and also do the owners Radio show along with him, and a wonderful guest he had already arranged to be on with him. What a great pleasure it was as Al has been in the business for many many years, and he is extremely knowledgeable and knows the business from top to bottom. The idea that he made room for me to jump in as well is a testimate to his professionalism, Thanks Al!

Tomorrow I am off to Key West Florida, any further and I will be in Cuba, eeeekk!!! It is one of those rubber band airplanes, you know the ones they wind up and throw in the air, keep me in your prayers please.

Florida trip to be continued tomorrow. Be good , and stay healthy. Oh, I was wondering whether being around all of those sickly, sneezing and coughing people in the three airports I have been in would be a problem, not so far! I guess the Body Well, Colloidal Silver, Odorific Garlic and my Vitamins have kept me going, I love this job!

Day one in Coral Springs Florida

What a difference a few states away from New York can make in the weather. Today was the most beautiful and warm morning I have seen in months, and it was great! Florida is so beautiful, and from what I hear this is the ideal time to be here.

I am here doing training at our newest licensee. The name of the business is Tunies, and it is here in Coral Springs, and it is an amazing store. Not just a large store, but one of the cleanest and most orgasnized store I have seen in a long time. The store was founded on the principal of quality products and great prices, and the most natural and effective products available.

Customer service, and employee training and knowledge is an unspoken given here, as customers shuffle in from many surrounding areas for this great service, huge selection and wonderful prices at the same time in one location.

I found this staff to be well trained, knowledgeable, and customer service oriented, all things that any owner, and any consumer would love to experience.

Tomorrow I will start day two of training and I will get to experience this wonderful organization all over again. My hats off to Tunies in Coral Springs.

Day three in New York

Day three was a great day for me here in New York. I not only was able to warm up, but we were able to get down to the nitty grity of Great Earth business. After being with Great Earth for as many years as I have I have learned two things. Number one, we are always on the breaking edge of what is happening in the world as far as nutrition goes, and number two, we never waste out time with making products that are just "FAD" oriented.

I have re- learned again, as I do every time I come to New York that quality raw ingredients, the finest delivery systems for our digestion, and more testing than is done with almost all of the companies on the market is what has kept this company on top for so many years. It has also kept me in place for almost thre decades.

I will release the list of new and upcoming products in a few weeks when the labels are all approved by the lawyers and they have the FDA seal of approval. Although I am chomping at the bit to do it now!! I will wait.

Tonight I am off to Florida, yippppeeee, it is warm and sunny, I can hardly wait. I am doing training and helping with merchandising in a few cities, but I will update all of you nightly.

So until tomorrow, stay healthy, be well, and keep your fingers crossed as I hate flying. Well, let me clarify, I hate the taking off, and landing, the" in the air" part is ok.

New York, day 2 and way too cold for me

I must tell you that weather like this makes me appreciate Las Vegas weather more than I ever thought. This morning it was cold that you could see your breath in lobby of the Marriott I am staying in. That is cold, actually about eight degrees without the wind chill factor, I am still not warmed up.

I had the greatest question tonight when I got back to my room, actually a really great question, so I thought sharing it might answer it for many others as well. The question is as follows, Dear Jeff, if carbohydrates are so bad for us, why are they the foods that everyone eats, wants, and misses so much when we they are taken away?

First of all, carbohydrates for the most part are inexpensive, although fine chocolates can be pricey. They are everywhere, and lets face it the taste great! This is the main reason they are so hard to give up. I think that fast food, complex carbohydrates if eaten as almost anything in a small moderation could be tolerable. The problem is we, as Americans do nothing in moderation. When we eat junk, we eat tons of it, the same for sugar and caffeine, we really are a nation of excesses.

The thing we have to remember is that these foods and a diet built on this group of foods is actually detrimental to your health. Almost every single one of the major diseases in this country are basically caused by inactivity, stress and this diet.

high carbohydrate diets are great tasting, bad for us, habit forming and cause health risks that can be life threatening, and they lead to the major diseases we hear about and see every day. Diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, vascular circulatory disease, heart disease, stroke are just the tip of the end results of this diet, but we still eat that way , why, because we love to eat, and we love to eat badly.

New York, day one

So after arriving in New York tonight, I am going to put my flu and cold program to the test. Cold, cold, cold,it is about ten degrees now and below zero with the wind chill factor. This is so strange considering it was almost seventy in Las Vegas.

So what am I doing to see that I am healthy and staying that way? I am going to stay as hydrated as possible, eat a lot of protein and stay away from mucous forming carbohydrates, and take all of my flu prevention supplements.

Starting with my Multiple Vitamins and supplemental Vitamin C, about six thousand milligrams. Body Well, and Colloidal Silver should also be added, and even the Silver Nasal spray a few times per day.I also brought some Echinacea and Golden Seal, so overall I think I am well covered.

After the amount of sniffling and sneezing and coughing people all over my flight, I am hoping that this program, the one I always preach will do it's job. I guarantee I will keep you posted as the week continues.

Fingernails, what to do to make them grow

Every single day I have at least one or two women ask me why their nails do not grow. This is a problem for many women, but so many of them just cover them up with acrylic nails to conceal their slow growing and sometimes brittle and even unsightly nails.

Women will sit there and breath all of the chemicals and be in a crowded salon all in the name of beautiful nails. Now do not get me wrong, a beautiful set of manicured nails are very much appreciated, but the long term effects of that synthetic material can be devastating to you nail beds.

I have gad women that have developed an allergy to the chemicals and when they had the nails removed, they found terrible fungus and damaged fingernail beds. They were devastated to say the least, but like I always say" are you surprised, look what you have been doing for sometimes years at a time". The nails cannot breath and moisture and bacteria get under the nails between fills, and then it is sealed over so bacteria can fester under the fake nails and cause damage. Now some women have been getting their nails done for years without a problem, but I can bet that about seven out of ten women have things ugly and unhealthy going on under those french tips.

If you decide to take the plunge into letting your own nails grow again, or are forced to because of infection or problems, you may try some added nutrition. First start with minerals, I usually lean towards the Mezotrace Minerals as they are very absorbable and are great for the nails as well as the bones, muscles and ligaments and tendons. You should also add a nutritional Nail formula, something that has all the nutrition for the nails in one formula.

If there is some damage to the nail bed or a fungus problem, try rubbing a combination of Colloidal Silver, Tea tree oil and Squalene oil into the nail bed, it works miracles. It make take a while. but you will be happy to have beautiful nails that are yours and no more visits to the chemical parlor.

Patience does not come with instuctions

Anger is something that amazes me here in Las Vegas, I think actually it is perplexing to me as well. There are so many medications people can use for anger and no patience issues, and many people could use them too. But I have to tell you when these people start a tirade, some people can be down right scary!

Have you ever watched people in their cars in the morning commute? You know they are late as they are eating an egg Mcsomething, drinking a four shot Starbucks, combing their hair, shaving and doing their makeup while balancing their check books and of course talking on the phone, we cannot forget that one.

The last accident I was in I was rear ended by a lady who had spilled food all over herself, she was not wearing a seat belt as she hit the steering wheel, and I had no damage as I drive a truck. I was stopped, and saw her coming she was doing all of the above things and yelling in her phone and I saw it happen.

The policeman asked her if she was not paying attention, eating, talking on the phone, or not paying attention or just a bad driver? She said all of the above, he let me leave, but kept her there. I just shook my head and wondered where all of this comes from. I really think it is because we are all in big hurry going absolutely no where for no real good reason, and then we end up waiting when we get there anyway.

Have you noticed that nobody has any patience anymore? You can be in line ready to pay for something at any store, and if the person in front of the impatient person is looking for exact change, they will actually have a fit. I mean making faces, swearing, loud groans and they act like someone took their last dollar or something. I see it everywhere,I think the worst would be the "I am late, and I want my Starbucks, give it to me now, now ,now group!!!"

I look at it this way. We all have a routine that we do everyday. and we allow a certain amount of time to do this. If you get up late or you are rushed, you should not try to do the same routine. If you do, you will get upset that you are late, make bad judgements and most likely kill someone, or upset someone so badly by your bad behavior that they will want to hurt you. Believe me, I watch the faces of people who are exposed to the rudeness and meanness of other people, they want to hurt you, and very badly too.

If you are an anxious person more that once a week or once a month, or an angry person more often than you like or can handle, there is some nutritional help for you, and therapy wouldn't hurt either!

Try taking extra B Complex once or twice daily with meals. B Vitamins are great for stress relief and temper problems, and sometimes bad judgement. Kava is the worlds best chill herbal pill, I call it natural Xanax. As I live in Las Vegas, there are many people with jobs and careers that have them dealing with the public more that they would like to sometimes. The people that come to Vegas come in all happy and go lucky, but many leave sometimes after too much gambling in bad moods, being evil, nasty and hating the world moods. For this, many of the employees of this fair city rely on things like B Complex, Valarian root, Kava, and other herbal blends.

The thing to remember, you know in your heart if you are an anxious, angry, mean and short tempered, frustrated and in a hurry going nowhere type person, just ask your closest friends if you are not sure. Take some advice, do something about it, try some wonderful nutritional herbal relief. The drivers and people of the world , along with your co workers, spouses, kids and friends will appreciate it.

Are you a nighttime teeth grinder?

I was asked today about nighttime teeth grinding. As an individual that has had this problem on and off for as long as I can remember, I find that it pops up usually during stressful times in my life.

I am sure that most people have this problem and actually are not sure what to attribute it to. There are quite a few symptoms, but the most common seem to be awaking in the morning with a headache, or jaw pain, almost like you had been chewing gum all night long. Sometimes you can actually have a cracking in the jaw, or what almost seems to be a cramping in your jaw area. Some people get bleeding gums from it, loosening of the teeth and sores at the gum line. For most people it is a infrequent problem that usually fixes it self after the stressful time moves on. For others it can go on for weeks, months and even years, and the long term damage can be devastating to the bone in the jaw, and the permanent damage to the teeth as they are actually ground down closer to the gum line.

There are a few things that really do help this problem starting with supplementation that can be taken on a a daily basis at night. If you are or have been a bruxer, or teeth grinder try taking extra Calcium and Magnesium at night to relax the muscles while you sleep, this alone is a huge step to controlling the problem. If your sleep is at the least not very good, you can also take Valarian Root, or Kava or Melatonin. Sometimes what a teeth grinder needs is a way to shut down and relax and get into a deeper sleep, hopefully so they can get a better nights rest and stop reliving their stress while they sleep. Also, managing your daytime stress by meditating, exercising or doing some activity that allows you to chill out will help too. Also, take extra B Complex for daytime energy and added stress relief.

I have also had individuals that use small massage machines on their jaw muscles before they go to sleep to relax those already tight muscles. This preventive measure may help quite a bit.

This is a common problem that many people do not figure out until their dentist tells them about all of the problems they already have and those coming up down the road.

One thing to do is find a Dentist that knows about teeth grinding or TMJ, and have them fit you with a night guard, this helps the teeth glide back and forth and prevent enamel and tooth loss due to gritting during the night.

Although common, many people find great relief with just a few of the above tips, I wish you luck if you are also plagued with this problem as I am.
